Hunterdon County

A pastoral county with historic beauty and an artistic atmosphere.

Welcome to Hunterdon County

With rolling hills and historic beauty, Hunterdon County blends a timeless nostalgia with fresh, modern amenities to create an oasis of peace and prestige. Dating back to 1714, Hunterdon County is named for 18th-century colonial governor Robert Hunter and his Scotland hometown.

Flawlessly renovated historic homes set on sprawling lawns honor the stately beauty of centuries past while offering stylish contemporary touches and luxe amenities. With farmland as its heritage and culinary delights as its art form, Hunterdon County shines with bistros and cafes committed to decadent tastes and farm-fresh ingredients. The innovative Ironbound Farm, located in Asbury, features a delicious lineup of hard ciders. Things To Do

Hunterdon County’s picturesque beauty offers a stunning backdrop for outdoor activities, like the whimsical Festival of Ballooning in Whitehouse. This acclaimed event features nationally recognized performers, a decadent menu of festival treats, and gorgeous sunset balloon rides. Bring a picnic and lounge on the sandy beaches of Round Valley Reservoir, or spend a day out on the water or hiking the scenic trails at Spruce Run Reservoir. A type of fish whose name translates to ‘delicious,’ shad is showcased at this highly anticipated festival, with an entire bistro area dedicated to creative dishes prepared with this prized delicacy.

Every holiday season, downtown Clinton transforms into a winter wonderland of Victorian-era characters and traditions with Clinton's Dickens Days. Snuggle up in a horse-drawn carriage, meet Charles Dickens and Scrooge, visit the artisan market, or sip hot chocolate while listening to the costumed carolers.
